For the best results from chemical peel aesthetic treatments, VivaSkin Dermatology and Aesthetics provides you with several options. Your personalized chemical peel with exfoliating solutions (such as glycolic, salicylic, lactic, and trichloroacetic acids) will give you more radiant skin. At our Wellesley, MA office, Dr. Hyemin Pomerantz offers chemical peel treatments that help to resolve skin abnormalities, including wrinkles, fine lines, scars, dry patches, hyperpigmentation issues, and more. Chemical peels dissolve dead, damaged skin cells with a personalized treatment on your skin that causes the oldest layer to slough off. As your skin heals and starts to rejuvenate and repair itself, you should notice a clearer, smoother complexion. A chemical peel treatment is a nonsurgical method to make your complexion bright and is used for the face, neck, and décollatage.

What are the Benefits of a Chemical Peel?

Traditional exfoliating products only work on the surface of your skin, so they can’t really give you the same benefits as a chemical peel. With a chemical peel, you can expect to see:

  • Reduced wrinkles and fine lines
  • Smoother skin texture
  • Clearer skin tone
  • Reduced acne breakouts and scars
  • Fewer blackheads and whiteheads
  • Smaller pores

VivaSkin Dermatology and Aesthetics is proud to offer several different types of chemical peels. Our custom treatment plans provide stunning results that are tailored to your individual skin type and goals.

During your procedure at VivaSkin Dermatology and Aesthetics, we will have you lying down in a relaxed position to administer your treatment. We will make sure your skin is cleaned before applying the personalized solution to your face and/or neck. We will massage the solution onto your face and let it work for an appropriate length of time, which will be discussed in your chemical peel planning session. Then, we will wash the peel off your skin and apply a neutralizing agent. You may want to bring sunscreen or a hat to wear outside after the procedure to avoid UV exposure.

Dr Pomerantz and her office staff provided a perfect experience for a first-time RHA filler patient. The office was easy to access and offered ample parking, inside was pristine and luxurious, reception was communicative and punctual, and Dr Pomerantz offered thorough explanations of both the product and her technique, as well as aftercare. Dr Pomerantz delivered flawless results and I’m excited to return for future medical and cosmetic dermatology!

Dr Pomerantz is such a nice person, and open to listening and working with me, as I prefer to use natural methods. We discussed many ways of addressing an issue and she likes much of what I am doing and my suggestions. Dr Pomerantz made some suggestions that fit exactly with my approach. Thank you so much.

About Us
What level should I choose for my chemical peel?

Which level of chemical peel is best for you will vary based on your unique skin concerns and cosmetic goals. In your initial consultation with Dr. Pomerantz, she will help you choose which chemical peel is right for your skin. Some factors you might want to consider are your overall health, your skin type, the depth of your skin concerns, the time you can commit to recovery, and what you want the peel to accomplish. For your first peel, it's better to select a lighter chemical peel and see what you think of the results. From there, you and Dr. Pomerantz might adjust your plan to find the best type of peel for your skin.

Should I get a chemical peel or laser skin resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels are both effective facial treatments that address surface imperfections to make your skin clearer, healthier, and smoother-looking. The main difference is that laser skin resurfacing uses focused light energy to remove dead and damaged skin allowing a high degree of precision. It can often treat deeper skin issues while stimulating new collagen growth. A chemical peel applies a caustic solution to your skin to dissolve damaged skin cells to renew and refresh your skin. In your initial consultation, Dr. Pomerantz will discuss the advantages of both options and help you decide whether laser skin resurfacing or a chemical peel is better to achieve your needs and goals.

Will my face hurt after a chemical peel?

Based on the formula selected, you may have some discomfort when it is on your skin. If you get a light peel, you may notice a little stinging, but it usually goes away quickly with the use of a handheld fan. Deep or medium peels are better for deeper skin damage and longer-lasting results; however, they are usually more uncomfortable. Numbing cream, medications, and soothing ointments may be used to help you feel more comfortable during the chemical peel. Dr. Pomerantz or a member of her team will discuss post-treatment skin care to extend your results and keep any possible discomfort to a minimum.

Can I combine a chemical peel with other treatments?

Yes, absolutely. You may consider combining a chemical peel with another nonsurgical skin treatment at VivaSkin Dermatology and Aesthetics to boost your results. During your consultation, be open with us about your skin concerns so we can develop a personalized treatment plan to best address your goals. Your plan might include adding injectable wrinkle treatments (such as BOTOX® or Juvéderm®) plus a chemical peel to refresh your entire appearance or one of our other effective treatment solutions.
