How Does Post-Surgical Skin Care Work?
Post-op skin care products and treatments can help the skin heal quickly, speed up recovery, and reduce symptoms, such as bruising, swelling, hyperpigmentation, redness, itching, and dryness. To obtain a better cosmetic outcome after surgery or treatments, follow these instructions:
- Use mild, hypoallergenic products. Don't apply pressure when cleansing or moisturizing. Pat on the skin instead of rubbing it in.
- ALWAYS use sun protection. Apply sunscreen or keep skin covered and protected from ultraviolet light.
- Let wounds heal. Do not pick at peeling skin or scabs to prevent scarring.
- Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate! Drink plenty of water. We recommend six glasses per day to remove toxins from your body to help keep skin healthy.
- Manage swelling with ice packs and cold compresses. We may recommend sleeping with your head elevated as well for the first three days or so.
- Our team will instruct you on when to use makeup again. We do recommend washing it off at night.
